MIDWEST MISSION

2025

Zion UMC Midwest Mission Opportunity
We have 8 positions reserved from Monday, August 18 through Thursday, August 21st
at Midwest Mission Center in Springfield, Illinois. Please consider volunteering for this opportunity to serve. We can decide to volunteer 2.5 days or 3.5 days. Minors over 12 years of age are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult chaperone. The cost for the mission center is $16 per day plus motel lodging and meals. On site camping can also be arranged. Car pooling can be arranged. Please contact Larry Huiras with any questions or if you are interested, as we need to finalize our reservations by June 20th.
Many congregation members have served over the last years and found it to be very rewarding. The Midwest Mission Center is the hub for UMCOR disaster relief and also helps the less fortunate in Central America.

Missions

Zion has always been a mission-minded church and strives to make a difference in our community.  Our congregation has long held to the commitment to spend more on others than we do on ourselves.

Locally we support the food pantry and the milk voucher program.  We provide school supplies as well as warm hats, mittens & coats to children in need. We provide needed items and gifts at Christmas for local children through Jesse Tree.  We also participate in activities such as Random Lake Hunger Walk, bell ringing for the Salvation Army, Zion Housing, and other local, state and national missions as needed.

Zion collects food for our local food pantry, as well as having several of the congregation who volunteer time every week to help serve the families that use the food pantry.

We support the milk voucher program through donated farm fresh eggs.  All proceeds from the eggs go to fund free milk vouchers for the food pantry.
